Our 1st Year!

And just like that, Elysium’s first year has come to an end. Looking back, it’s incredible how far we’ve come — from the initial spark of an idea while in deep Covid-19 lockdown to now, a multi-world server with a full events calendar and 197 total players.

In this post, we’re taking a look back at key metrics and updates made to the server, as well as take the chance to thank a few people who have made this all possible.

Metrics & Milestones

Key milestones:

  • The server was launched on Jan 14.

  • Our first team member, Ian (Brightenstar), joined us on Jan 17. He found us on Google and we are so grateful he did. 💖
Shortly after, we also had Allen (Blipo) and Brian (Stoptargeting) join. Last but not least, Sajana (2tall_141) joined in April. We have a couple new builders and moderators also joining in the new year. Thank you all. 🙏

  • Our first event, held in partnership with AutismBC was on Jan 27. That’s when the server was introduced to our first 10 players.

  • On Jan 29, we received our first email that made me cry. Good cry.

  • My friend, Amaara, kindly came up with our updated Elysium logo that was finalized on April 2. ✨

  • Our first series of weekly events, held in partnership with Camp Kirk, started on July 7, as part of Camp Kirk’s virtual summer programming. They were our initial inspiration for starting Elysium.

  • We hit our first 100 players on Oct 15.

  • A big thank you to our growing list of partners, including: AutismBC, Camp Kirk, The C.O.D.E. Initiative, Girls Club, LDATD, PAFN, and the Family Support Institute of BC. Thank you so much for your support!

Some additional fun stats:

  • Our players have collectively killed almost 129,500 mobs.

  • Unfortunately, they have also died 14,112 times. Luckily, our keep inventory is on so at least they won’t lose their items. 😉

  • The average player spends 2h 58m on the server per session.

Server Updates

We started off with just one world — a RPG survival server. Now, we’ve added a vanilla survival world, a creative world, and a host of mini games. The RPG world has also evolved quite a bit with the addition of enchantments, PvP (only in the Desert Magus area!) and…a fishing system (which Michael is inexplicably super in love with).

Click on any one of the announcement pictures below to read in detail.

You’ll have to join the server to check out other updates but here are a few more easter eggs:

Did you know you can send mail to other Elysium players?

Did you know you can get random prizes from this claw machine?

Finally, did you know we have a whole host of pets that aren’t part of vanilla Minecraft?
Ask a mod how you can get one.

That’s it for now! We can’t wait to see what 2022 will bring.

If you’d like to get involved, have questions about the sever, or want to explore partnership opportunities, don’t hesitate to email us at hello@joinelysium.org.

Happy New Year from all of us at Elysium! 🎉
